Global AI instructions

The Global AI instructions card lives on the Secrets tab. These instructions provide guidance across AI-reviewed requests, alongside the instructions attached to each relevant secret and client.

Editing instructions

Tap the card to open the editor. When instructions are empty and AI access is inactive, the card first expands to explain the feature; use its edit action to continue.

Enter the guidance as plain text. Save becomes available when the trimmed text differs from the saved value. Saving removes leading and trailing whitespace; saving an empty value clears the global instructions. There is no required instruction template.

Back with unsaved changes opens a confirmation: Discard leaves without saving, while Keep editing returns to the draft. After saving, check the app’s confirmation or error message to see whether the update succeeded.

Scope and interaction with approval modes

Global instructions apply to AI review across clients and secrets. Secret instructions describe the intended use of one secret; client instructions describe the intended work of one client. The reviewer receives the applicable scopes together with request context.

Instructions guide an AI decision. They do not change a secret’s selected approval mode, override a client suspension, or make a denied operation eligible for access. Review can also end with a request for your decision when the reviewer cannot decide or review fails.

Changing global instructions does not end existing temporary access. End those grants explicitly in secret details or client details if subsequent requests should be evaluated again.

You can save instructions while AI access is inactive. They remain available for later use, but AI-mode requests need a manual decision until AI access becomes active. See Plan and billing and AI review behavior.

Information sent for review

Global instructions are sent to the cloud reviewer as part of request context. Sensitive environment-variable values and private keys are excluded. Non-sensitive variable values, secret and client names, instructions, commands, reasons, captured script source, and relevant signing context can be included.
